FX Protection inside Payment Flows

gs-usecase
Use Case Snapshot

This path activates FX protection for existing customer payment flows.
It enables a platform to protect the FX value of customer-facing payment activity without changing its existing payment providers, routing logic, or core payment architecture.
This path is designed as a low-friction entry point for adding FX protection as an additive infrastructure layer on top of live payment flows.

Prerequisites

This path can be started only if all of the following conditions are met:

  • The platform operates as B2B2X, serving end customers and owning the customer experience.
  • The platform already supports customer-facing payment flows where FX exposure exists (for example: payouts, card settlements, balance withdrawals).
  • The platform has a defined FX exposure point within an existing payment flow.
  • The platform is legally permitted to apply FX protection mechanisms to customer-facing transactions in at least one jurisdiction.
  • The platform supports API-based integration. No changes to payment UI are required in Stage 1.
gs-symbol If any prerequisite is not met, this path should not be started.

Stage 1 – Fast-Track Scope

Included in Stage 1

Stage 1 activates a single, opinionated FX protection mechanism applied to one existing payment flow:

  • One customer-facing payment flow (for example: payout or settlement)
  • One predefined FX protection model
  • Automatic protection applied without end-customer configuration
  • No change to existing payment providers or routing
  • FX protection executed by FX360 as an overlay layer
gs-symbol Stage 1 establishes protected FX value for a live payment flow without modifying core payment operations.

Explicitly Excluded from Stage 1

The following are not included in Stage 1:

  • FX conversion engine replacement
  • Multiple payment flows
  • Multiple protection models
  • End-customer choice or configuration
  • Hedging strategy selection
  • Risk dashboards or analytics
  • Monetization or pricing optimization
  • Payment orchestration changes
gs-symbol These exclusions exist to maintain deterministic adoption and prevent architectural disruption.

Time to Live

Expected time to Stage 1

live: 2–4 weeks

This estimate assumes:

  • All prerequisites are met
  • A single payment flow is selected
  • No deviation from the Stage 1 scope

Fast-Track Steps

Each step represents a progress gate, not a task list.

gs-connect

Identify

Identify the existing payment flow where FX exposure occurs.

gs-configure

Connect

Connect the platform to the FX360 protection API.

gs-execute

Apply

Apply the predefined FX protection model to the selected flow.

gs-validate

Validate

Validate protected FX values during non-production execution.

gs-go-live

Go Live

Enable FX protection for the live payment flow.

Validation Check

Stage 1 is complete when:

  • A customer-facing payment flow executes normally
  • FX protection is applied automatically
  • The protected value is enforced consistently
  • No changes are required to the existing payment provider or routing
  • No manual intervention is required
gs-symbol Stage 1 completion is binary: complete or incomplete.

What Comes Next

After Stage 1, the platform may expand to:

  • Additional payment flows
  • Additional FX protection models
  • FX risk visibility and analytics
  • Customer-facing hedging products
  • Monetization and pricing strategies
  • Deeper FX infrastructure integration
gs-symbol Expansion is optional and occurs outside the Fast-Track scope.
